BIOGRAPHY

Djarot Saiful Hidayat was born on 30 October 1955. He was born in Gorontalo, Indonesia. He is a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition, he was inaugurated to serve as Chairman of Commission A of the East Java Regional House of Representatives from 1999 to 2000. Prior to engaging as a political activist, Djarot Saiful Hidayat had a major livelihood as a Lecturer / Professor at the University of 17 August 1945, Surabaya. Not only as a lecturer, he also serves as Vice Rector I at the university in 1997 to 1999.

In the journey of his knowledge, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, or familiarly called by the name of Djarot, studied at Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Malang, Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA). After graduating from UB in 1986, he earned a Bachelor (S1) degree. Later, he continued his education by enrolling as a student at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Faculty of Political Sciences until he obtained his Master degree (S2) in 1991.

Although he was born in Gorontalo, Djarot served as Mayor of Blitar in two periods, with a term of office from 2000 to 2010. As a leader in the city of Blitar, he severely limits the existence of a luxurious metropolitan life in his city, such as the establishment of multi-storey Mall And skyscrapers. He prefers a street vendor that dominates the economy in his city.

With the concept of maturity that he had planned, he managed to set 1000'an street vendors who used to be shabby in the complex of the square to be neatly arranged. The plan that he applied was successful to boost the economy in Blitar, without a mall and supermarket like in big cities.

Djarot was then elected to the House of Representatives for the period 2014-2019. The vacancy of vice governor of DKI Jakarta after the election of President Jokowi, prompted Djarot to renounce the membership of the DPR. Djarot was appointed as vice governor of DKI Jakarta, accompanying Ahok until the end of his term in 2017.

Do not stop there, Djarot PDIP cadres back carried the party bearing the bull to go ahead in Pilgub DKI 2017. PDIP juxtapose again Ahok-Djarot as a candidate petahana governor and vice governor of DKI Jakarta.

For his positive contribution he made while serving as Mayor of Blitar, he was awarded the Regional Autonomy Implementation Monitoring Committee in 2008. Djarot was also awarded the Best Citizen's Charter Award for Health, Anugerah Adipura in 3 years in succession, namely 2006, 2007 , And 2008.
