World Tribe ~ One Tidore inhabit the islands included in the south of the island of Ternate, or west of the island of Halmahera. Their regions included in the district of North Maluku, Maluku province.

Some of them inhabit several Bacan and Obi, as well as the western part of the island of Halmahera. Its population is approximately 45,000 inhabitants, mostly Muslim. Tidore language experts classified into non-Austronesian language group, and is more inclined to the group of Papuan language.
Livelihood Tribe Tidore

The main livelihood of these communities are catching fish in the sea. Seafood such as tuna, squid and sea cucumbers they sell to Ternate to be exported abroad. Others live as farmers in the fields to move the rice plant, cassava, sweet potato, corn, cloves, nutmeg, copra, and others.

In the matter of this charming community kinship paternal lineage (patrilineal), but in the daily life of family relationships that tend to be bilateral. No mating selection of preferred, but may be up to the level of first cousins.

In ancient times Tidore never had a major role as a sultanate that controlled most of North Maluku and that includes persistent against the Dutch.

At that time the Sultan is assisted by a number of sangaji, a kind of governor who heads the regions of the sultan. Sangaji itself oversees more local leaders are kimelaha and law.
