World Tribe ~ People Tanimbarese themselves prefer to call themselves as Numbar. Said Tanimbarese used initially by Western explorers. Other community some call the Northeast. These tribes inhabit yamdena, Selaru and other small islands in the neighborhood in the District Yamdena Tanimbar Islands, Southeast Maluku, Maluku province. Its population is approximately 10,000. This tribe is actually divided into three sub-tribes that Tomata Yamdena, Tomata Tomata Laru and Nember. Sub-tribes inhabiting Tomata Nember Fordata Island and the islands in the north yamdena. Tomata sub-tribes inhabiting most of the island Yamdena Yamdena, while Tomata Laru inhabit selaru and other islands in the western part of the island Yamdena.

Language Tribe Tanimbar
The language used by this community is the language Fordata which deeply influenced by the language Kei. Most of them use the language Yamdena, especially those that inhabit the eastern part yamdena and selaru. The language is considered to be still sekerabat with Timorese island of Timor (Timor Leste).
Livelihood Tribe Tanimbarese
The people's livelihood are farming and fishing. Plant is principally yams, cassava, maize and a little rice. Animal protein they get from the catch of fish and other marine animals.
Kinship and Kinship Tribe Tanimbarese
People embrace Tanimbarese kinship system based on the paternal line (patrilineal). Tabil immediate family called in. But they prefer to cluster in patrilineal nuclear family unity called das in. Kinship distinguished AWAI Merwan (close relatives) and AWAI babar (distant relatives). In general, the patrilineal kinship which they call tojame matan.
Groups of relatives who are descendants of people who first inhabited this area is called mele, and is often called the landlord. As for the people who came later called famudi. Mele group considered to have a higher social standing so that they may only mate with mele group.
