Tribal history Bonerate



World Tribe ~ Tribe Bonerate remain or settle in the islands of the region Bonerate in Selayar Regency, South Sulawesi. Some of them remain on the island Karompa. Their language belongs to the Muna-Buton stock language of the Austronesian language group, and divided again into two dialects, namely Bonerate and karompa.

It can take months to years, to be able to adapt, understand and use native language Bonerate often termed the language of birds or in dialect Selayar, more often called the language "lest".

Bonerate comes from two syllables of "Bone" and "Rate". That is above the sand. It is said that the original residents are descendants of Buton. Even the village chief said one of them named Asmoyan, their ancestors actually Madurese.

Bonerate Island is the most remote locations. To achieve Bonerate of Makassar, capital of South Sulawesi, takes 2 to 3 days. The first part of this trip is by riding a ferry to Fort Island Selayar, and then rent a fishing boat because there is no public transport to Bonerate.

Most among the people of this island is the power of civil servants regional or force temporary employees who work as teachers, doctors clinic, nurse, midwife, employee districts, police units of the civil service, concierge UPT Department of Transportation, Communications and Informatics, the clerk lights lighthouse and police officers who got the assignment in the region.

Bonerate levels of public education in general is still very low. More than half of these people have never attended school or did not finish primary school. The unemployment rate is very high and the low income level. Medical facilities less, in fact there are only two floating medical clinic run by the government, whose existence depends on the weather. The facilities are attractive for tourism, such as docks, hotels, availability of electricity, water, and telecommunications are not in Benorate.
Religion and Belief Tribe Bonerate

Bonerate majority of people are Muslims, but also influenced by the strong animistic beliefs. Basically, they believe that the spirit of the ruling inhabit the sea. Therefore, when gales and high waves came, people often believe that sea power is being angry. Celebrations and religious ceremonies diverse intended to appease the spirits of the sea.
